In Term 4, we will continue to explore our 5 school values. We are currently focusing on the value of resilience. You might like to ask your child what it looks like, sounds like and feels like to show resilience! In Religion, we are going to be able to recognise the significance of prayer in Jesus’ life and the lives of the believers, including the Hail Mary. We will also recognise ways in which believers (past and present) honour Mary, the Mother of Jesus.
In English, we will continue exploring narratives before moving on to learn about procedural texts. We will then begin our unit on letter writing where we will learn about all the essential components of a letter. We will continue daily Guided Reading and Independent Reading where we will focus on our individual reading goals. The focus book and their corresponding sound/s will continue to be posted on the blog each week. You might like to talk to your child about our focus book and the sound/s during homework time. A big thank you to the parents who listen to their child/ren read their home reader every night. Please remember to sign off on the sheet. If you'd like the book for a second night, please sign the sheet and write that you'd like it again in the comments section. This way I know your child has read the book. We are counting how many nights we have read and have some dedicated students who are striving to achieve the top of the ladder! In Mathematics, we will explore Position and Location (up, down, under, through, clockwise, anti-clockwise, left, right, etc), Chance (will happen, might happen, etc) and Place Value (partitioning, tens and ones). In our combined HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences) and Arts unit, students will respond to questions about the recent past and familiar and unfamiliar places by collecting and interpreting information from sources provided. They will also describe the dances they view and where and why people dance. As well as why artworks are made and presented. In Health, we are exploring how our strengths and achievements contribute to our identities. In our Technology unit we will be able to describe the purpose of familiar products, services and environments and how they meet a range of present needs. Students will also identify how digital systems are used and design solutions to simple problems using a sequence of steps and decisions. We are going to be focusing on the production of milk. A reminder that our Music and PE days are Tuesdays and Fridays (sports uniform days) and Library is still every Thursday, Unfortunately, towards the end of Term 3, we had a decline in students borrowing from the Library. The Library Bag Challenge may be returning in Term 4 so let's see if we can borrow every week and win the challenge! Please note that the whole school assembly on Wednesday afternoons will now begin at 2:20pm (instead of 2:25pm). We will begin each Assembly singing our school song. Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. As always, if you would like to meet with me to discuss your child’s progress, please email so we can arrange a time.
