Welcome back to what will be a busy term of learning.
In Religion, we will be looking at different groups that we belong to including our school and parish communities, and looking at the importance of church in our religion lessons. In Science this term, students will be learning about habitats and the animals that live in those habitats. The animals that we will be focusing on are the Green Tree Frog, Emu, Feathertail Glider and Komodo Dragon. In English, students will use the information gathered in Science to write an information report in class using our whole school writing diamond focusing on a title, sizzling start to draw the reader in and topic specific sentences to inform the reader. In HASS, students will explore what school was like in the past, compared to their experiences of school now. In Maths workshops, we will be covering various mathematical concepts including counting from 1 to 100, counting in 5’s and 10’s, addition and subtraction and place value. Remember that regular reading and sight word practice is important to maintain in developing your child’s reading fluency. Engage your child in pre and post discussions to nurture their comprehension. Reading and comprehension go hand in hand.
